Applicant will be responsible for SQL Server database administration in an enterprise environment. Must be able to participate in on-call support of production databases on a rotating basis. Pro-actively monitor production database for high availability and performance. Provide DBA support to assigned projects. Enforce best practices in all areas of database administration and architecture. Follow established standards. Develop and document new processes and procedures as necessary. Involve in capacity planning for growth and changes. Must be flexible to support pre-scheduled after-hour or week-end work.
· Participate in on-call production support on a rotation basis.
· Ensuring Database availability, performance, and continuance.
· Designing, implementing and monitoring database backup and recovery processes.
· Implementing performance optimization techniques of SQL Server databases and Storage
· Providing support for SQL clustering, Replication and DTS job scheduling.
· Familiarity with SSIS, SSRS and SSAS technologies.
· Executing and tracking benchmark metrics related to database performance, and availability
· Providing periodic reviews of database engine performance and monitoring levels
· Devising solutions to operational challenges of multiple database platforms.
· Providing training and mentoring other Database Administrators at Echostar.
· Designing, Testing, and Documenting upgrades SQL Server database environments.
· Facilitating customer negotiations and maintaining excellence in customer relations.
· BA Degree in Computer Science (or MIS/CIS)
