Position Responsibilities: * Participate as member of project team in defining the engineering design/architecture for the new product. · Develop highly complex mechanical systems and designs in a concurrent engineering environment from the conceptual stage through completion of the detailed design validation with testing and evaluation Must provide performance estimates, cost estimates, material selection, BOM structure etc. · Work with vendors and internal resources to develop working prototypes of new products, and verify that these prototypes meet all of the required product specifications. * Work with manufacturing to bring product designs from the engineering prototype phase to production release, address quality or value engineering issues on current shipping products.
* Plan, oversee and contribute to fabrication as needed to drive product designs from the engineering prototype phase to production release, address quality or value engineering issues on current shipping products. Experience: * BSME plus 5 years minimum in a similar environment … 10+ years preferred. * Experience with gas/liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry knowledge and development a significant plus. Thermal/Structural analysis software experience and ion optics analysis software experience a plus * Demonstrated skills using Pro/Engineer (Wildfire 2 release) for parametric designs in 3D solids modeling and 2D drawings. * Experience in tolerance analysis of assemblies and detail parts. * Demonstrated knowledge of sheet metal fabrication, plastic injection molding, aluminum casting, and machining processes. * Experience with thermal and structural analysis capabilities a plus.
