Pharmacy Centralized Order Entry
The Houston COE (Centralized Order Entry) is a pharmacist order entry service providing comprehensive medication review and order entry, for improved order entry efficiency supporting the integration of the hospital pharmacist into clinical care activities that promote safe and cost-effective patient-focused care. The Houston COE is part of the Gulf Coast Supply Chain Services, an HCA Healthcare Company with offices in Sugar Land, Texas
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES The COE Pharmacist is responsible for monitoring, evaluating and making recommendations to assure the appropriate and effective use of pharmaceuticals for patient care. The COE pharmacist shall use the medication process to assess, plan, intervene when necessary, implement and evaluate patient care in compliance with client hospital policies, protocols and procedures.
Accurately enter orders in the computer in a timely manner
Support and assist in meeting departmental goals for order entry and clinical programs
Ensure facility procedures are followed when non-formulary drugs, Client drugs, restricted drugs and investigational drugs are ordered
Initiate change in assignments based on workload and resources available
Demonstrate proficiency in computer order entry and related computer functions
Screen for drug interactions, allergies, order duplications, appropriate diagnosis, renal and liver function prior to order entry
Requirements:EDUCATION
Bachelors degree from an accredited college of pharmacy
Pharm.D. preferred
EXPERIENCE
One (1) year hospital experience preferred
Meditech preferred
CERTIFICATE/LICENSE
Appropriate State Pharmacy License(s)
