Group Life Counselor
Family Advocacy Services of Virginia (FAS VA) is a community-based mental health agency that provides a range of treatment programs to enhance the psychological and social functioning of at-risk children and their families. We offer therapeutic foster care with ""wrap-around"" support services for the child, and when possible for their biological family. We also offer intensive home based services to help families stabilize in an effort to prevent out of home placements or to enhance successful reunification. FAS joined The Network in December 2002.
This full time position is responsible for the supervision and guidance of students in the Group Life Program. Applicant should have experience in child welfare services (protective, foster care, group care, adoption, or residential treatment services) or other work with neglected, abused or delinquent children and their families.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide individual and group counseling to participating students
• Provide social, therapeutic and recreational group/individual activities
• Monitor the student's daily adjustment to the community, observing and recording all significant behavior
• Assigned other duties as needed
Requirements:
• Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or related field and minimum one year experience in providing casework services to children and families.
• Or Bachelor's Degree in any field and minimum two years experience in provision of case worker services to children and families.
• Must have valid driver's license and working automobile. This position will require regular travel.
• Salary commensurate with experience.
