Engineer-RF
• Bachelors degree in Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent work experience required. Masters degree a plus
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in the cellular or telecommunications industry
• Driver's license required
Demonstrated knowledge in several of the following platforms and/or technologies
• System Design including: AMPS, CDMA, 3G, EVDO
• Voice cells infrastructure including: Lucent and CDMA data
•Telecom experience including: T1, DACS, OMP
• Digital Communications including: DS1, DS3, Fiber, ISDN
• Wireless data service including: CDMA, CSD, STP,
• Analog, CDMA, Flexent Modular cells (CDMA & PCS), RMT software, and 3G technology
• In Building Solutions and platforms - IBWave
• Proficient in office computer applications: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access, MapInfo,GeoPlan
• Excellent analytic, interpersonal, and communication skills
• Excellent troubleshooting skills

•Programming background a plusThe Engineer RF contributes to the RF Design of the regional wireless (cellular pcs) network including: search area issuance, candidate assessment, and approvals within area of responsibility, redesigning of mature network areas to minimize capacity constraints, working with other areas of network to ensure performance fixes/initiatives are in place, partnering with System Performance to reduce Lost Calls and Ineffective Attempts in assigned area, preparing timely FCC/FAA and FAS submissions, conducting cell site translations with 99% accuracy, conducting data analysis of switch statistics and drive data by conducting drive testing for potential sites, new site integration, and system optimization, performing radio engineering evaluation for system planning and site acquisition, creating and using RF propagation and planning tools, conducting and overseeing field tests for potential sites, planning frequency assignments and identifying technical parameters for network growth, documenting and reporting findings, planning near-term integration of new technologies for first applications in the network, identifying location-specific needs for new cells, evaluating coverage problems and new service area requirements for coverage cells, identifying causes of RF interference and troubleshooting interference problems with system performance, attending zoning hearings in support of new cell site acquisitions, contributing in the development of long-term build plans, performing Macro/Micro Cell Design including antenna selection and placement, utilizing knowledge of CDMA, EVDO and microwave to contribute in network design, and assisting in the training and development of new RF and Associate RF Engineers.
Additionally this position will also play a role in Project Managing In Building Systems for the INKY sub region. Included in this will be to coordinate with sales, vendors, RF Engineering, Real Estate, Operations, Implementation and System Performance groups each In Building project as it goes from inception to on air. Furthermore, this position will manage the existing in building base and work to upgrade and troubleshoot as necessary.
